You see that shit, Verizon? You have until then to impress me. Otherwise, it gets real.

You see that shit, Verizon? You have until then to impress me. Otherwise, it gets real.
Verizon Wireless yesterday confirmed that it would not be carrying the Samsung Galaxy S II (widely considered to be the best Android smartphone on the planet) and in so doing dashed my hopes of upgrading anytime in the near future.
My reaction to this news is generally reflected in the responses you’ll find here, but beings how I have my own website, I wanted to make my feelings on this matter perfectly clear.
I hate you right now, Verizon. We’re FIGHTING.
You’ve thrown OG Droid owners who have been waiting months for a great phone under the bus yet again.
In regards to the Droid Bionic, you can stick it. I’ll be absolutely floored if that thing isn’t panned by critics.
In closing:

I am a developer, open source consumer, and Android evangelist. I’ve been looking to break into the open source world as a contributor for quite a while now, but was struggling to find projects that were both relevant and interesting to me. This past week, however, two projects have caught my eye and I have made it a personal goal to actually contribute something of value to them. I thought that by scribbling a note here it would somehow cement my level of commitment. Guess we’ll see how that pans out.
In any case, the projects are both Android apps that I use somewhat regularly, and I’m honestly looking forward to feeling stupid for a while until I get up to speed with the SDK. I’ve played around with it before, but shit now appears to be getting real. Once I’ve moved past the point of being a complete moron, I’ll probably be compelled to share some of my thoughts and/or contributions out here.
On a side note, taking this plunge has necessitated me learning Git – something I’ve been meaning to do for a while now. After about two days of playing, I think I might finally be getting the hang of it. Linus Torvalds doesn’t need anyone else to verbally felate him, but the man is a goddamn genius.
Parting shot: look at how pretty this syntax highlighting is – LOOK.
// This code sure is useful
public void foo() {
System.out.println("foo");
}
